~*Sunshine: Processing Information*~

Thank you, Lord, thank you!

Answers are wonderful!

Had this little man stayed where he was very likely no one would have caught the Visual Processing Disorder.  He had already been labeled as having ADHD and medicated, heavily, at age 4.  He clearly does not have ADHD.
Wow, those locs are getting long.

We have been working with a wonderful Doctor at the Vision and Sensory Center for almost 18 months now.  We have seen great improvement in Sunshine's ability to see clearly.
However, he is still unable to process information correctly.  His brain is overloaded within minutes and he is only able to comprehend partial information.

What does all this mean?
What we're doing is not working.

I will be going through training, in order, to learn the therapies he will need.  It is a 10 week intensive therapy course that he will go through.  He will have two weeks off then be tested.

What we are doing is not working.  There are behaviors that are just not going away.  Scary, frustrating and even disturbing behaviors that cannot go on.  No amount of consequences are helping and I am having to take a hard look at my parenting of this little man.  Some of it he can help and we do see improvement in some areas, however, I truly believe that there are many things he cannot help.

Something is going on that is causing him to be unable to cope.  He is so overwhelmed, at times, that he acts out.  We shall be looking at all aspects of the Sensory spectrum in the coming months.

Does he have anxiety?
YES, clearly!

Does he have Visual Processing Disorder?
YES! Absolutely!
But there is something more there....and we're hoping to get to the bottom of it.

Psalm 70:4
But may all who seek you
    rejoice and be glad in you;
may those who long for your saving help always say,
    “The Lord is great!”
