~*September's Thoughts: Food Allergies*~

Peanut has gotten exponentially healthier in the last year and we attribute this to understanding HER allergies better.  We understood food allergies, in general, yet, her allergies are unique to her and we must treat them accordingly.

First, we learned that she had zero tolerance for her allergens. No by-products at all...i.e. soy lecithin or oil, peanut oil, etc.

Secondly, we learned that she needed to eat less food more often.  She eats small meals every 2 hours all day long...sometimes we can stretch it to 3 hours and if she's sick she stops eating completely. So, if she stops eating completely what do we do?

The third thing we learned is supplementing. We were blessed to discover an allergen free powder supplement (sadly loaded with sugar but the only safe option for her) that we added to her rice milk. Eventually she outgrew her almond allergy and we upgraded her to almond milk.  She is down to only 2 supplemented cups of almond milk a day but more if she is ill and needs it.

Recently, we learned she has absolutely not outgrown her allergies as her Allergist has insisted. We have seen flare ups of the tummy issues, hives, itchy throat (with lots of coughing), etc.

All our at home trials were failures and we added hazelnut to the NO list. No Nutella for this Princesserella!

We recently ordered her a med. alert bracelet but the little stinker lost it already! We can't find one small enough...so we're going to skip the "cute" ones and buy a stainless steel one and have a jeweler take out a few links to make it fit her better.

 Isaiah 48:17
This is what the Lord says— your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.
